Business Development Executive

This role involves supporting a professional services firm with business development and marketing tasks, aimed at achieving commercial objectives and fostering long-term relationships with clients. The position sits within a team working across several practice areas and sectors, including private wealth, property, corporate, litigation, and family.
Role Overview
As Business Development Executive, you will collaborate with the Business Development (BD) Manager and Marketing and BD Director to implement strategies and support the firm's growth through targeted client and intermediary activity. This includes a range of tasks across different practice areas, such as pitching, client targeting, event management, marketing collateral, awards submissions, and digital content.
You will report to the Marketing and BD Director and work alongside a BD Manager, Communications and Marketing Manager, and BD Assistant within the team. Exposure to cross-functional BD and marketing activities will involve engaging with partners, fee earners, and other departments in delivering diverse projects.
Responsibilities
Events
  • Organizing business development events and ensuring attendance by fee earners at relevant conferences and seminars.
Directory and Award Submissions
  • Preparing high-quality awards and directory submissions as required.
Pitching and Marketing Collateral
  • Supporting pitches in collaboration with the BD Manager and occasionally leading pitches with fee earners.
  • Producing tailored and professional marketing collateral.
Business Development Tactics
  • Delivering timely and high-quality business development materials, including credentials, standard pitch text, and mailing lists.
  • Drafting newsletters and invitations using systems such as InDesign and email marketing software.
Campaign Management
  • Working closely with the Communications and Marketing Manager to support fee earners in executing campaigns with digital content, social media, and internal communications.
CRM System Engagement
  • Ensuring best practice in CRM usage to deliver client intelligence, data entry, and data management.
  • Encouraging fee earners to adopt best practices for CRM.
Sector Projects
  • Leading sector-specific projects, scheduling calls, setting agendas, taking minutes, and tracking actions.
  • Supporting delivery of various business development tactics.
Other Activities
  • Assisting with central business development projects and responsibilities as they arise.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • At least two years' experience in a professional services business development environment, preferably within a law firm.
  • Proven track record in providing effective business development support.
  • Strong written, creative, and organisational skills.
  • Highly IT literate.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level.
