If you can’t please all of the people all of the time, how do you keep a workforce happy?
With the world of recruitment being more competitive than ever before, it is important that you do everything that you can to encourage people to give your company a go – and to stay with you once they get there. In addition to this, you will need to ensure that they are kept happy, as studies have shown that people’s willingness to remain in a specific job isn’t always just about how much money they are earning. With this in mind, we have put together some tips that will help you to keep your whole workforce as happy as possible.
Encourage a good work-life balance
Nobody is happy when they have to work all of the time, and this means that you should encourage your team to make the most of their time away from work. Although overtime may sometimes be necessary, you should try to keep this to a minimum, so that your team can relax as much as possible in their spare time.
Include your employees when sharing important information
Although you may feel that you only need to share certain kinds of information with other managers, this can make your employees feel out of the loop. Instead, you should include them in the information sharing when possible, and this will make them feel both informed and valued in equal measure.
Be open and honest, when practical
When things happen within a company, it doesn’t take long for rumours to spread, and this is something that can cause unrest and unhappiness. With this being true, it is a much better idea to be open about what’s going on, rather than letting rumours spread. Even if it isn’t always good news, the fact that you’re sharing the information will help your employees understand the reality of the situation much better.
Give more holidays
Holidays can be a great reward, so if you have employees who regularly perform well, then extra holidays could be used as a thank you. Not only would this give them more time away from the office, but it would also give them the recognition that they need, giving them much better motivation to work to a high standard when they are in the office.
